VAS Virtual Talk: How Grassroots Initiatives Preserve and Protect Tunisian Cultural Heritage

June 27 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Featuring Barbara Anglisz

This live Zoom talk will be available to all current VAS members. Members should have received an e-invitation to register. A recording of the talk will be made publicly available on YouTube at a later date.

We are happy to welcome VAS Board Member Ms. Barbara Anglisz to our virtual talk series. She holds a Master of Arts in Heritage Preservation with a concentration in Community Engagement from New York University. She is an independent researcher who focuses on preserving cultural heritage through community-based approaches, promoting active community participation in heritage programs based on the values and needs of local people.

Her talk will explore a recently conducted independent ethnographic research study in the Medina of Tunis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the capital of Tunisia. The research contributed to local knowledge creation so that heritage advocates can better understand the challenges around preserving the Medina and implement practical strategies and interventions to strengthen preservation efforts.

After the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and join in on the conversation in our Q&A discussion.
